Update Stow Road and Middleton Road Intersection Study
Brief Description: The City’s traffic engineering consultant, GPD Group, recently completed an updated study of the Stow Road and Middleton Road intersection. Upon completion of the study, staff indicated that it would discuss the results of the study with City Council.

Purpose & Explanation
City staff will review and discuss with City Council, the Stow Road and Middleton Road intersection study (see attached) that identified that a new traffic signal at the intersection is warranted and found to be the most cost-effective solution to mitigate both safety and congestion concerns.
If Council approves, the City will send out a request for proposals to qualified traffic engineers and return to City Council for approval of the consultant in September 2021 for authorization to begin design of this project. The Cost of the design work is estimated at $65,000.
The construction of the signal improvements is anticipated in summer, 2022 and the costs of signal upgrades will be included in the upcoming discussions for the 2022-2026 budget.
