Purpose & Explanation
Two gravel parking lots and a connector trail present various maintenance issues and dust problems within Barlow Farm Park. In order to increase usability and aesthetics, the Park Board has placed a high priority on the paving of these areas. The Engineering Department received bids on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 for the 2015 Asphalt Resurfacing and Reconstruction Program. The paving at Barlow Farm Park was an alternate in the bid package. The low bidder on the program was Ronyak Paving, Inc. Below is the Engineer's Estimate along with the respective bids.
Engineer's Estimate: $284,371.45
Ronyak Paving, Inc. $244,272.84
The City Administration is requesting City Council approval to authorize the City Manager to award and enter into a contract with Ronyak Paving, Inc. for the Paving of Parking Areas at Barlow Farm Park. The Park Staff is requesting a 10% contingency for any unforeseen issues that may arise during construction. The total amount would be $268,700.12.
Total Contract = $268,700.12 ($244,272.84-base + $24,427.28-contingency)
Timing Considerations
Upon authorization to proceed by the City Council, the administration will award and enter into a contract with Ronyak Paving, Inc. for the above amounts.
