Body
Legislative History
4/22/14 City Council Workshop - Presentation: The City's current broadband infrastructure and future needs.
Purpose & Explanation
Although staff is moving forward with certain tasks on the broadband project, before we go much farther with this project I wanted an opportunity to review the project scope and timeline with City Council members to make sure we are aligned with City Council's objectives and goals for this project.
Attachments
1.      June 2014 Broadband project update memo to Council.
2.      2004-2015 City of Hudson Fiber Plan as presented at 4/22/14 Workshop.
Timing Considerations
If modifications to the scope and timeline are necessary, then staff will reconvene to make the necessary modifications and then move forward.
Fiscal Impact
The fiscal impact of this project is being developed as the project scope and timeline are being refined.  It is anticipated that the broadband project expenses will be associated to the Hudson Public Power budgets.  As the costs are developed, staff will be in a better position to determine whether the costs can be contained within the existing budget or whether additional appropriations are required.

Recommendation
Suggested Action
No formal action is required by City Council at this time.  Staff is requesting Council feedback on the proposed Phase 1 timeline.
