Body
Legislative History
In 1996, Ordinance 96-143 created Chapter 860 for Snow Removal.
Purpose & Explanation
The Snow Removal Ordinance establishes a permit process by regulating the operation of commercial snow removal vehicles operating on private and public property in the City of Hudson.  The City of Hudson Public Works Department administers the permits on behalf of the City Manager.
Since the inception of this Ordinance, section 860.03 (c) has not been updated to meet the State's current insurance liability limits.   An amendment to the current Ordinance allows e the City to meet current insurance liability limits as reference and enforced in ORC 4509.51.
Timing Considerations
Staff recommends amending the current legislation now, with an effective date of October 1, 2014.

Recommendation
Suggested Action
Staff recommends that City Council pass an amendment to the current ordinance changing the language of section 860.03 (c), to reflect that the applicant must comply with ORC. 4509.51 to meet the liability insurance requirement   Public Works Staff will enforce the current limits as future applications are processed.
