Purpose & Explanation

The City staff is preparing to submit for state/federal funding for the construction of various road, trail and resurfacing projects through AMATS.   Staff has reviewed several potential project locations and identified the projects with the highest scoring potential.  Attached is a project location map and preliminary project summary matrix for further reference.

If Council is in concurrence, City staff will return to Council with a request for each project specific resolution, confirming the City’s commitment to each project prior to submittal. The schedule for application submittals to AMATS is August 30, 2019.  Below is a list of projects that City staff would like to submit for:

Resurfacing Grant:

1.)  Terex Road Resurfacing (Londonairy Blvd. to Barlow Road)

Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) and Transportation Alternatives Set Aside (TASA) Grants:

1.) Veterans Trail Phase 2 - Trail along Prospect Street and Morse Road

2.) Veterans Trail Phase 5 - Veterans Way Park to Downtown

3.) Hines Hill/Valley View Road Roundabout (STBG funds only)

Note that additional projects may be included in funding applications and legislation, pending upcoming project scoring changes from AMATS.

The City would be informed if the project is funded by early 2020.
