Purpose & Explanation
The Public Works Department contracts for the snow and ice control on publicly maintained properties. This includes the following: downtown business district sidewalks; city-owned properties; specific school crosswalks; municipal parking deck; city-owned parking lots; public greens, and public buildings. One bid was received for this service, and it was provided by H & M Snow Pros, Inc. Dun-Rite Snow Plowing LLC has held this snow and ice-control service contract for the past two years. The bid tabulation has been attached and shows a 5.7% increase in costs. The contract does allow for a two-year extension if services are acceptable and pricing remains reasonable.
Timing Considerations
Upon City Council approval, the Public Works Staff will execute the Public Properties snow and ice control contract for the term of November 1, 2016 through May 31, 2018.

Staff recommends that City Council authorize the City Manager to enter into a contract with H & M Snow Pros, Inc., 10389 Kinsman Road, Newbury, Ohio 44065 for snow and ice control services in public areas for a contract term of two years commencing on November 1, 2016 through May 31, 2018 at the unit prices submitted.
