Title
Overview of Neighborhood Storm Studies and the Status and Goals of Upcoming Comprehensive Studies.
Brief Description: Staff will provide an overview of recently completed small scale "neighborhood" storm studies and the status and goals of additional upcoming comprehensive watershed-scale studies.
Body
Legislative History
None.
Purpose & Explanation
Following the initial cleanup and assessment after the August 8, 2024 flood, Engineering staff, supported by professional stormwater engineers, conducted four, "neighborhood-level" stormwater drainage studies.
These preliminary studies were prioritized ahead of the more comprehensive, watershed-scale analyses that require a longer duration to complete. The purpose of these "neighborhood" studies was to quickly identify potential flood prevention improvements in heavily impacted areas that could be expedited for detailed study, design, and budgeting. Neighborhoods were selected based on the severity of flooding experienced and the availability of existing stormwater infrastructure data and modeling.
The specific areas reviewed are detailed in the attached Exhibit and include neighborhoods near:
* Middleton, Danbury, Salem Dr, Rannet Ave, and Brunswick Ln
* Edgeview Drive, Tamarisk Dr & Darrow Park (further details below)
* Jesse Drive, Samson Cir, Benjamin Cir, Herrick Park Drive, and Herrick Circle
* Hudson St, Aurora St, Oviatt Street, E. Streetsboro Street, and N Hayden Parkway
Staff will review the findings and recommendations from these neighborhood studies and provide an update on ongoing community-wide stormwater flood prevention activities.
