Title: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING PART TWELVE OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF HUDSON TO AMEND SECTION 1205.02, THE OFFICIAL ZONING DISTRICT MAP, OF THE LAND DEVELOPMENT CODE WITH RESPECT TO THE "HISTORIC DISTRICT" TO AMEND THE BOUNDARIES OF SAID DISTRICT TO INCLUDE ELM STREET AND ROSLYN AVENUE. Resolution No. 21-21, approved March 2, 2021: Resolution affirming the application submitted by the City Managers designee to the State of Ohio Preservation Office for a certified local government grant to fund the consultant work necessary for submittal of National Register Historic District expansion application.
Purpose & Explanation
City staff has been advancing the multiyear process to expand the City of Hudson Historic District which requires amending both the National Register District and the locally designated district. The staff has worked with Naylor Wellman Historic Preservation Consulting (as part of a State of Ohio Certified Local Government grant) to submit a request for expansion of the National Register Historic District. This process has included multiple neighborhood and public meetings and submittal to the Ohio State Preservation Office.
Being listed within the National Register will not change how a property or home is regulated as it is primarily a ceremonial designation. The City's adopted locally designated Historic District provides the regulatory historic preservation ordinance including the Secretary of the Interior standards to each contributing building.
