Purpose & Explanation
The Ohio Grade Crossing Elimination Program, administered by the Ohio Rail Development Commission (ORDC), provides funding to assist local communities in eliminating hazardous railroad crossings.
In January 2024, the City of Hudson submitted an application to the ORDC and was awarded $2,886,174 for the Hines Hill Road Grade Separation Project.
The project's total cost is estimated at $19.5 million. Funding sources include the ORDC grant mentioned above, the Federal Rail Administration's Ohio Grade Separation Program, Norfolk Southern, and the City of Hudson.
The estimated project schedule anticipates design to begin in winter 2025. However, due to the complexity of the bridge design, the need for railroad coordination, environmental permitting, right-of-way acquisition, and potential utility relocation requirements, the project's construction is anticipated to take place in 2029.
