Proclamation:  Special Recognition of the City of Hudson as a Gigabit City.

Executive Summary:   Mayor Currin will proclaim the City of Hudson as a “Gigabit City” and proclaim the month of October 2015 as “Gigabit City Month” in Hudson, recognizing Hudson as the first Gigabit City in Northeast, Ohio.  Jane Howington will be in attendance to accept this Proclamation on behalf of the community and staff.

Purpose & Explanation

Based on requests from Hudson businesses, Hudson City Council had the foresight to invest in the infrastructure necessary to provide fast, reliable and affordable internet and voice services to the community in an expedited effort through a new service called Velocity Broadband, allowing Hudson to become the first Gigabit City in Northeast Ohio.

Timing Considerations

This Proclamation recognizes “Gigabit City Month” during the month of October 2015.
