Title

Executive Summary:  This project consists of the replacement of guardrail in various places throughout the City.

Purpose & Explanation

The existing guardrail in the City maybe damaged through vehicle hit skip or become out of specification due to age or work on adjacent pavements.  This work will be the first phase of a two-phase approach to get all guardrail systems in the City up-to-date and meeting the current standards.

Timing Considerations

Following the approval of this resolution by the City Council, the Engineering Department will advertise in the local newspaper and receive bids.  The City Manager will be authorized to enter into a contract with the lowest and best bidder.

Recommendation

Suggested Action

Staff recommends that City Council approve this authorization for the City Manager to advertise, receive bids, and award to the lowest and best bidder for the guardrail replacement program.  We are requesting an emergency clause be added to this resolution in order to bid and complete the project in 2017.
