Purpose & Explanation
This legislation authorizes the installation of underground fiber and conduit for customer laterals by three qualified bidders for the north, central and southern areas of the city-see attached map. Awarding contracts to multiple providers will allow for greater scheduling flexibility and enable staff to assign work to the most suitable bidder for each project segment. The estimated cost of this work is $1,000,000. Staff will return to Council for approval if additional funding becomes necessary.
