Purpose & Explanation
The City has extended water service and intends to continue improving access to municipal water by extending supply lines throughout the municipality to unserved areas. To that end, this section of the code should be revised to make it clear that property owners with existing potable well water need not tap into city water unless their well fails. No new wells for potable water will be permitted.
Additionally, well water for non-potable uses may be approved by the City Manager provided the property owner complies with the prohibition of cross-connection, and backflow preventer is installed pursuant to Codified Ord. section 1040.12, to ensure the integrity of the City water supply.
