Body
Legislative History
The attached guide provides references to the City's Charter, Codified Ordinances, and Land Development Code, which regulate the various municipal boards, commissions, and committees.
Purpose & Explanation
The current applications and appointments process is coordinated by the Clerk of Council, who communicates upcoming term expirations (within 90 days) and member resignations to the President of Council as needed. At Council's discretion, the City solicits applications from citizens through announcements by the President at meetings and workshops, followed by notifications published on the City's website and news coverage in the Hudson Hub-Times. It has been the practice that current members who are interested in re-appointments must re-apply and be interviewed by City Council. However, members who were interviewed and appointed to fulfill an existing term that expires within a short time thereafter may not be required to have another interview.
Mr. Kelemen has proposed streamlining the applications and appointments process for municipal boards, commissions, and committees. An outline of his proposal is attached for Council's review and discussion.
Timing Considerations
The current applications and appointments process is conducted as needed. The deadline for applications is generally three to four weeks after the announcement, with interviews scheduled in the two weeks following, and appointments by City Council at their next meeting.
Mr. Kelemen has proposed a new schedule, beginning in 2015, as shown in the attached proposal.
