Purpose & Explanation
America Recycles Day (ARD) was started in 1997 by the National Recycling Coalition and has continued to be a vibrant program through the efforts of the Keep America Beautiful organization. America Recycles Day is the only nationally recognized day dedicated to encouraging all Americans to recycle and purchase recycled products. The Environmental Awareness Committee serves as the Hudson affiliate of Keep America Beautiful. Residents are encouraged to take the pledge, to learn by understanding materials collected for recycling, to act by reducing personal waste through recycling, and to share by encouraging others to participate in recycling efforts.
