Purpose & Explanation
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry awarded USDA Forest Service funding for the purchase and planting of trees at Hudson Springs Park. A goal of the program is to restore the community tree canopy with large-stature trees and promote species diversity. Hudson Springs Parks suffered significant tree loss and tree damage during a severe thunderstorm on June 1, 2022. The Hudson Parks are working with the Friends of Hudson Parks on an invasive species management program. A healthy tree canopy is crucial to this program and to the overall biodiversity of Hudson Springs Park. The City of Hudson requested $8,000.00 in funding with a required match of $8,000.00. This is a reimbursement grant. Tree planting is expected in fall 2023.
