Purpose & Explanation
The County of Summit Department of Sanitary Sewer Services is working with the Village of Peninsula, and the OEPA to install a new sanitary sewer system within the Village of Peninsula, Ohio. As part of this sewer work, the County and the Village are interested in having waterline installed along all easements and rights-of-way in the Village in which the proposed sanitary sewer lines will be installed. The County asked the City of Hudson if they could study the potential extension of our water system in the Village and east of the Cuyahoga River, at no cost to the City. The City of Hudson agreed in an earlier discussion on 9/7/21 with City Council. See the attached report from the consultant on this potential water service area.
Following the discussion on the information in the report and a Q & A, the City Staff will discuss with Council the next steps in this process.
The City of Hudson would need to enter into an agreement with Summit County and the Village of Peninsula, Ohio regarding serving this area. It is our understanding that the Village is not under any service contracts with other water purveyors.
