Purpose & Explanation
Copley Township and the Cities of Norton and Barberton have formed the Southwest Summit Council of Governments (SWSCOG) for the purpose of consolidating public safety communications.  The Summit County 9-1-1 Planning Committee has convened and recommended the change to incorporate the new public safety answering point (PSAP).  Per Ohio Revised Code, following the recommendation of the Summit County 9-1-1 Planning Committee, the legislative authority of each municipal corporation in the County shall act by resolution to approve or disapprove of the amendment.  
Timing Considerations
Requesting suspension of the rules and consideration at first reading in order to meet the requested response date from the County.
