Purpose & Explanation
This Ordinance authorizes the following increases to Volunteer Firefighter hourly reimbursements. The pay increase is being requested in order to maintain the public welfare & safety by being competitive with other local Volunteer Fire Departments in our area. The volunteer's firefighter's pay rate was previously increased in 2018 and 2021.
The estimated financial impact to the Fire Fund is shown below based on the 2022 Volunteer Fire number of hours worked by the volunteers.
Based on Volunteer hours paid through April 30, 2023, we do not anticipate a need for supplemental appropriations in 2023.

Timing Considerations
If approved by City Council, the revised pay rate will go into effect on June 26, 2023. This date is the start of the Volunteer Firefighter pay period.
