Purpose & Explanation
Councilman Foster has proposed the attached amendment to the City’s Charter to implement term limits for members of City Council, such that “no person shall hold the office of Council for a period of longer than two successive terms of four years.”
Timing Considerations
If Council desires to place an issue on the November 2, 2021, Election Ballot to amend the City’s Charter, a certified copy of the legislation (adopted by at least 5 Council members) submitting the proposal to the electors must be provided to the Summit County Board of Elections no later than 60 days prior.
