Title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH COGENT COMMUNICATION FOR THE PROVISION OF AN INTERNET CIRCUIT FOR THE CITY’S VELOCITY BROADBAND SERVICES. 

Brief Description:   This request will enable Velocity Broadband to add an additional dedicated internet circuit from Cogent Communications to provide a redundant upstream connection.

Purpose & Explanation

This resolution will enable staff to install a geographically diverse 10Gig circuit and enter into a new 3 year contract with Cogent Communications. Current combined Velocity bandwidth exceeds 4Gbps during peak usage, which this circuit will help provide the additional bandwidth needed as the bandwidth needs grow. The total value of this three year contract is $115,052.16 , a monthly rate of $3,112.56 and a one time install cost of $3,000. This rate is below state term vendor pricing as listed on Ohio DAS MSA0004-2 which is listed at $3,599.00.

Suggested Action

Staff recommends that City Council approve this Resolution authorizing the City Manager to enter into a three-year contract with Cogent Communications.
