Purpose & Explanation
Staff recommends that Council pass the attached legislation to authorize the City Manager to enter into a new three-year bargaining agreement, effective January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2020, which covers terms and conditions of employment and other related matters for the Teamsters Local 588, bargaining unit members. The agreement was ratified by Union membership vote on November 3, 2017.
Teamsters Contract 2018-2020 Changes:
1. Duration - Three-years - Effective January 1, 2018 - December 31, 2020
2. Wages/Compensation:
Effective January 1, 2018: 2.0% increase
Effective January 1, 2019: 2.0% increase
Effective January 1, 2020: 2.0% increase
3. Add new section "10" to Article 7:
Section 10. Water Department Weekend Shift Differential. A Water Resources Department employee who works a scheduled four-hour shift on either a Saturday or Sunday will be awarded one (1) hour of compensatory time for each shift/day.
4. Eliminate former health insurance language in Article 10 indicating effective dates and percentages. Leave language specifying employee premium contribution of 15%
5. Remove language ".....and Council authorizes the granting of advance sick leave" from Article 11, section 8.
