Purpose & Explanation
Bids were received on April 26, 2013 @ 9:00am. Below is the Engineer’s estimate along with the respective bids.

Engineer’s Estimate = $96,878.00

Perrin Asphalt Company, Inc. $67,560.50
Burton Scot Contractors, LLC $70,818.75
Ronyak Paving, Inc. $71,766.25
Shelly and Sands, Inc. $83,325.00
Barbicas Construction Company, Inc. $91,908.25
Chagrin Valley Paving, Inc. $108,704.00

Also included were two Alternates. Alternate “A” was for the hill west of Duffield Drive and Alternate “B” was for 2 message boards. Due to bids coming in below the budgeted amount, City Administration would like to award the 2 alternates in the amount of $47,839.50, plus 10% contingency for any unforeseen issues that may arise during construction. If the City’s Public Works Department has 2 message boards available at the time of construction, then those will be used in lieu of Alternate “B”.

The City Administration is requesting City Council approval to authorize the City Manager to award and enter into a contract with Perrin Asphalt Company, Inc. of Akron, Ohio for the Norton Road Sight Distance Improvement Project. The Engineering Staff is requesting a 10% contingency for any unforeseen issues that may arise during construction for a total contract amount of $126,940.00.
