Title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INCREASE FUNDING FOR CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZER FOR GOLF COURSE USE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

Brief Description:  Authorization for the City Manager to increase funding for the purchase of golf course chemicals and fertilizer.

Body

Legislative History

RES. NO. 21-155:  A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, DURING THE YEAR OF 2022 TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS OR TO UTILIZE THE VARIOUS CHARTER-AUTHORIZED GOVERNMENTAL COMPETETIVE PURCHASING PROGRAMS AND ENTER INTO CONTRACTS FOR CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS, SUPPLIES, SERVICES, EQUIPMENT AND VEHICLES.

Purpose & Explanation

Historically the golf course has ordered chemicals and fertilizer at the end of the year to utilize early order pricing discounts resulting in operational savings. This process creates large then and now’s the following year. To avoid this moving forward, staff wishes to increase the chemical budget by $90,000.00. This will be a onetime occurrence and will allow the course to purchase chemicals and fertilizer on early order discounts and eliminating then and now’s in the future.

Timing Considerations

Emergency language is needed to order within this year’s early order discount timing.

Fiscal Impact

                       Currently Budgeted

X                       Supplemental Appropriation Required, (golf fund)

                       Appropriation Not Required.

Recommendation

Suggested Action

Staff recommends City Council pass this Resolution authorizing additional funding for chemicals and fertilizer in the amount of $90,000 for use at the Ellsworth Meadows Golf Course.
