A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF AKRON FOR FIRE HYDRANT INSTALLATION AND ROAD RESURFACING OF PORTIONS OF MIDDLETON AND DARROW ROADS AS PART OF THE AKRON WATER MAIN REHABILITATION PROJECT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
Executive Summary:   As part of the M.O.A. the City of Hudson agrees to fund a portion of this project including the installation of 5 new hydrants along Middleton Road and the resurfacing portion of the project on Middleton Road from SR 91 to Stow Road and along the east edge of Darrow Road from Middleton Road to the Twinsburg Township line.

Purpose & Explanation
The City of Akron, Ohio has received formal bids for the above mentioned project in June 2013.  The lowest bidder on the project was Kenmore Construction Company, Inc. ($1,343,674.50).  The project includes the replacement of the waterline bolts approximately every 18 feet (600 trenches) along the waterline, backfill, fire hydrants and resurfacing/restoration.  As part of the M.O.A. the City of Hudson agrees to fund a portion of this project including the installation of 5 hydrants along Middleton Road and the resurfacing portion of the project on Middleton Road from SR 91 to Stow Road and along the east edge of Darrow Road from Middleton Road to the Twinsburg Township line.
The total cost of the City of Hudson's portion of this project is $371,513.50
The City of Hudson is requesting a 10% contingency on this project for any unforeseen issues including additional full depth repairs that may be needed following the proof roll and other miscellaneous unforeseen issues that may arise during construction.
Total amount requested = $408,664.85 ($371,513.50-base + $37,151.35-Contingency)
The City of Hudson was scheduled to resurface Middleton Road due to the pavement rating condition.
