A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS AND TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR CUSTOMER FIBER INSTALLATION SERVICES WITH THE LOWEST AND BEST BIDDER.

Brief Description:  This contract would involve the installation of customer connections between the main fiber line and the residence, commonly referred to the drop install along with the installation of the customer facing equipment at the premise.

Purpose & Explanation

This resolution will enable staff to bid and award a one-year contract for the individual drop fiber install, testing of the drop, and installation of customer equipment for both underground and overhead services. Due to the variable nature of customers taking service, staff at this time anticipates a not to exceed value of $70,000 for the 12 months of service. Staff will return to Council if and when additional funding needs appropriated or at the end of the 12-month term.

Suggested Action

Staff recommend that Council approves this authorization for the City Manager to advertise, receive bids and award to the lowest and best bidder for customer fiber installation services.
