Purpose & Explanation
The Public Works Department budgets annually for contract tree planting services along various streets within Hudson, on the public greens, and on public properties. The Public Works Department budgets for this contract via the Street Trees & Greens budget, and the Hudson Public Power budget. Street Trees & Greens budgets $23,000 annually for tree planting, whereas Hudson Public Power budgets $10,000 annually for tree planting.
Earlier this year, tree planting bid specifications were developed and bids advertised and sent out to qualified bidders. The contract being recommended for award is for a three (3)-year term with an option to renew the contract for two (2) additional years if the services are acceptable and pricing remains reasonable.
The attached bid tabulation shows the qualified bidders and bid pricing. First Choice Tree Work, LLC is the lowest and best bidder. The pricing represents a 5% cost decrease from the current contract.
Timing Considerations
The three (3) year contract begins on November 1, 2013 and expires on November 1, 2016.
