Chief Robbins served as Police Chief from August 8, 2003, until his retirement on July 3, 2016. Pursuant to Charter Section 8.02, a majority of City Council members must concur with the City Manager’s recommendation to re-appoint him as Police Chief.
SECTION 8.02 DIVISION OF SAFETY.
The Division of Safety shall include the Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Services in the Municipality. The Director of Public Safety shall make all necessary rules and regulations for the government of the Division and the several departments thereof, and shall be charged with the duty of enforcing all police, health, safety and sanitary regulations that may be prescribed by ordinance or rules of the Municipality or the general laws of the State of Ohio. The Police Chief, Fire Chief, and Director of EMS shall be appointed by the City Manager upon the concurrence of a majority of the members of Council.
