Brief Description:  The Ohio Division of State Fire Marshal’s Office awards eligible funding for the purpose of state certified courses or Ohio Fire Academy (OFA).  The City could receive up to $15,000 in grant funding for eligible firefighter training courses as outlined in the grant requirements.

Purpose & Explanation

Hudson Fire Department seeks funding for eligible training under the 2024 Ohio Division of State Fire Marshal’s Training Reimbursement Grant for up to $15,000.00 from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024. Both Lt. Kevin Nelson and Firefighter Tony Vilt have completed courses eligible under this grant.

 

Funding is determined based on type of state certified course or Ohio Fire Academy (OFA) course completed. Reimbursement is allowable for registration fees and student text manual. All applicable rules regarding training and equipment grants must follow Ohio Administrative Code (OAC) Section 1301:7-7-1 (T) and Ohio Fire Code (OFC) 120. Grant requests must

 be submitted between December 16, 2024 to January 19, 2025.

Suggested Action

City staff recommends affirmation of the 2024 Ohio Division of State Fire Marshal’s Training Reimbursement Grant application to reimburse eligible training for firefighters meeting established criteria and accepting funds if awarded.
