2021 Land Development Code Update

Brief Description: City Staff has updated and expanded the preliminary amendment list from March of 2020 to continue some commercial focus items but also to incorporate some proposed amendments focused on efficiency and addressing noted requests from Council and residents.

Purpose & Explanation

Council conducted a discussion regarding Land Development Code (LDC) updates in March of 2020.  After initial discussion, the project was placed on hold due to covid response priorities.  City Staff has recently updated and expanded the list from March of 2020 to continue some commercial focus items but also to incorporate some proposed amendments focused on efficiency and addressing noted requests from Council and residents.  Please see the attached memorandum.      

City staff is requesting feedback regarding the attached topics.  Based on the workshop discussion staff will proceed to prepare a formal draft amendment for Council consideration. 

Timing Considerations

The preliminary timeline would be to prepare a draft amendment for first reading and PC referral on June 1, 2021 allowing for PC review in July and August.

Staff recommends City Council review the attached memorandum and provide guidance at the April 27, 2021 workshop.  Staff will then proceed to prepare a formal draft amendment for Council consideration.
