Purpose & Explanation
In addition to a resolution authorizing submission of an application, the program requires a resolution by the governing body in support of the project, per Ohio Revised Code 164.23(B(1)(b)). Staff is seeking grant funding to make enhancements to Brandywine Creek, including the removal of invasive species, the planting of native trees and shrubs, improvements of stream banks and the creation of bio-retention rain gardens combined with a linear park running along the creek with educational signage.
Timing Considerations
The grant application is due January 29, 2016.

Suggested Action
Staff recommends that City Council pass this Resolution in formal support of the Brandywine Creek Restoration and Greenway Plan for the portion of the Brandywine Creek tributary between Owen Brown Street and S.R. 303, a grant application for which will be submitted to the Ohio Public Works Commission, District 8 Natural Resources Assistance Council for Clean Ohio Conservation Program Funds.
