Brief Description: The Ohio Department of Natural Resources awards the state funded NatureWorks grant funding for the purpose of acquisition, development and rehabilitation of recreational areas. The City could receive up to 75 percent of the project cost in grant funding for the installation of an ADA kayak launch.

Resolution No. 22-170 authorized application for a Paddling Enhancement Grant through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. This grant program was unfunded by the State of Ohio for 2023.
Purpose & Explanation
Through a NatureWorks Grant awarded by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the City could receive 75% of the cost of an ADA compliant boat launch to be installed at Hudson Springs Park. An ADA compliant boat launch will make paddling at Hudson Springs Park easier for beginners, children, seniors and those with disabilities. Estimated cost of the boat launch is $52,601.00. The launch would be installed by City staff. A 25% match is required. It is a very competitive grant and only $61,367.00 is available to Summit County. Application deadline is June 1, 2023.
