Ordinance No. 73-41, Authorizing the Manager to enter into a Contract with Justinian Publishing Company for the codification and publication of all Village Ordinances of a general and permanent nature, passed June 18, 1973.
* Justinian Publishing Company merged with American Legal Publishing Corporation in 2004.
Purpose & Explanation
In 2016, Community Development Department staff conducted a review of the codification services offered by American Legal (then publisher), Conway Green, Codebook.com, and Municode. The City's goal was to incorporate the Planning and Zoning Code (Land Development Code) and Engineering Standards into the City's Codified Ordinances and to provide an expanded, more user-friendly online Codified Ordinances reference for staff, as well as the public. At the time, the LDC and Engineering Standards were being maintained, updated, and published online by staff, apart from the Code.
Staff recommended a contract with Municode as the best professional services provider. The City Manager entered into an agreement for the conversion and publication of the City's Code, LDC and Engineering Standards, as well as ongoing supplementation and website hosting services.
At this time, the total project costs are approaching $25,000. Therefore, staff recommends that City Council authorize a contract for ongoing annual codification, publication, supplementation, and website hosting services through December 31, 2019. Annual costs will be ...
