Title
A MOTION TO APPROVE THE PROPOSED 2014 COUNCIL MEETING SCHEDULE.
Executive Summary:   A proposed 2014 City Council schedule of regular, workshop, and special meetings has been prepared for Council's review and approval.
Body
Legislative History
The Charter states that City Council shall meet regularly at such times as prescribed by its rules, but not less frequently than twice each month.  Pursuant to the Codified Ordinances, Chapter 220, regular meetings of Council shall be held in the Council Chambers at 27 East Main Street on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m., and workshop meetings of City Council shall generally take place on Tuesdays on the weeks following the first and third Wednesday regular Council meetings and shall be held at 7:30 p.m. Historically, City Council annually reviews and approves a meeting schedule for the following year.
Purpose & Explanation
The proposed 2014 meetings schedule follows the established rules of Council, allowing for recess periods in mid-summer and late December, which include holidays recognized by the City.  Note that there is a conflict in 2014 with Veterans Day, a recognized holiday for the City, on November 11, 2014.  Additionally, staff has included proposed dates for special workshops regarding the annual Road Tour, as well as review of the Five-Year Plan and the 2015 Budget.

Upon approval, the 2014 Council meetings schedule will be published.
