Purpose & Explanation
At the May 24th, 2022, City Council Workshop (Discussion item D), the Council discussed a resident request brought by Council Member Kowalski asking the City to fly the pride flag at City Hall during the month of June (pride month).
Council discussed the request and maintained for a number of reasons that they did not want to review and decide on which flags would and would not be permitted to be flown at Hudson's local government / public buildings and facilities. Council agreed that City flag poles should be reserved to fly only traditional government flags which has historically been the practice of the City to this point. These flags currently include Federal, State, and local government flags as listed on the attached flag flying policy.
Staff asks Council to pass this resolution establishing a formal flag flying policy as written in the attached policy.
