Purpose & Explanation
The City Staff would like to discuss a request by the Village of Peninsula, Ohio, and Summit County for a waterline extension into the Village from the existing end of the Hudson Water System on SR 303, which is near the entrance to the Boy Scout Camp. (See the attached County Area map and a letter from the Village of Peninsula, Ohio.)
The Summit County Department of Sanitary Sewer Services and Executive Office is considering the use of a portion of their Summit County American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding they received for a proposed combination water and sanitary sewer project within the Village. The reason for this project is due to the private septic and water systems are failing within the Village and the County ARPA funding will help resolve these issues and help resolve any issues with the Ohio EPA.
The City Administration has discussed with both parties that this waterline request will require Council approval and that the City will only be interested if there is no cost for construction of this water system to the City, and the City will only be providing the future operation and maintenance of the water system following it completion.
Timing Considerations
If approved any necessary resolutions will be drafted for a future Council Meeting.
