Purpose & Explanation
The Fire/EMS Department has had difficulty purchasing vehicles for EMS and Fire that were budgeted in 2023, due to Manufacturing issues over the past several years with these types of vehicles. With the history of difficulty in locating and purchasing properly rated vehicles, the opportunity to purchase this vehicle now in 2023 makes sense. This vehicle is replacing a 2010 Chevy Suburban that is currently budgeted for replacement in 2024.The Fire/EMS Chief did locate one (1) Ford Expedition at Montrose Ford in Fairlawn, Ohio. The Administration would like to purchase this vehicle, which is being held for the City of Hudson for 30 days at Montrose Ford. The cost of the vehicle is $ 52,847.50 (See attached quote). The vehicle is a "special service vehicle" that is rated for the heavy-duty towing capacity as required for this vehicle.

The estimated cost for the vehicle is budgeted at $53,000 in 2024. There is an additional $17,000 budgeted for emergency lights, sirens, radios and other needed emergency equipment. The total amount budgeted for the entire project is not to exceed $70,000.

Currently there is $100,000 in the 2023 Fire/EMS Vehicle capital account that was budgeted and approved for the replacement of the Fire Department Brush Fire Truck.
