Title

A RESOLUTION AFFIRMING THE ACCEPTANCE BY THE CITY MANAGER’S DESIGNEE OF AN ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS GRANT AWARDED BY THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY.

Brief Description:  The City Manager’s Designee has accepted an Assistance to Firefighters Grant in the amount of $174,872.73 to fund the purchase of self-contained breathing apparatuses (SCBAs) for the Hudson Fire Department.  The City’s match is $17,487.27.

Body

Legislative History

Resolution No. 21-31 affirmed application submitted for grant funding; passed on March 16, 2021.

Purpose & Explanation

Staff sought funding from an Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) in the amount of $202,827.27 to assist with funding the purchase of new SCBAs for the Hudson Fire Department.  New equipment to meet the latest National Fire Protection Association standards is budgeted in 2022. The Assistance to Firefighters Grants is highly competitive. By applying for the 2020 AFG that will be awarded in 2021, it will provide the City with an additional opportunity for application. Current equipment will become obsolete in 2022. The Hudson Fire Department was awarded $174,872.73 in funding with a $17,487.27 required match.  The period of performance of the grant is 9/3/21 through 9/2/2023.
