A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER'S DESIGNEE TO APPLY FOR AN OHIO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION CONDUCTED UPDATE TO THE SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOLS TRAVEL PLAN AND IF SELECTED, ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR THE PROJECT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
Brief Description: The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is accepting applications for Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Plan update assistance. If selected, ODOT would conduct the study via an ODOT Task Order Consultant on behalf of the city, to update the City's current Safe Routes to School Travel Plan from 2011. There would be no cost to the City for this updated study.

Purpose & Explanation
The Ohio Department of Transportation's (ODOT's) Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program provides resources, technical assistance and project funding for Local Public Agencies (LPAs) and school systems to encourage and enable students in grades K-12 to safely walk or ride their bike to school. For a city to be eligible to apply for funds, the community must develop a comprehensive School Travel Plan that identifies both infrastructure and non-infrastructure safety improvements, countermeasures, and educational programs.
The City of Hudson's School Travel Plan was last updated in 2011 and did not include grades 9-12. In order for the City to be eligible to apply for future infrastructure projects and non-infrastructure programs listed within the School Travel Plan, the plan needs to be updated every 5 years. The City is eligible to apply for assistance from ODOT to update the plan. Applications are due by March 3, 2023.
If awarded, ODOT will hire and manage a consultant to update the School Travel Plan. City staff will provide information, develop a team, and work with ODOT on plan development....
