Purpose & Explanation
In 2019, Summit County applied for, and was awarded an Akron Metropolitan Area Transportation Study (AMATS) Federal Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) funds in the amount of $600,000 towards the resurfacing of the portion of Ravenna Road from Old Mill Road to the Portage County Line.
The project's total construction cost was estimated by the County at $750,000 and the $600,000 grant is being split between the County and City towards the construction of the project. Any costs above the grant are the responsibility of the County and City. The total project length is 1.36 miles of which approximately 0.75 miles (55% of project length) is in the City of Hudson. The project includes resurfacing, base repairs, and replacement of pavement markings.
The project's construction was planned for 2025; however AMATS identified that grant funds were available to move the project construction into 2024.
The City's portion of the original construction cost estimate was $95,000. This was identified by taking the original construction cost estimate of $750,000, minus grant funding of $600,000 leaving a balance of $150,000. The County/City would split the construction cost leaving the City...
