Purpose & Explanation
The Street Trees, Greens and HPP operations budget annually for contract tree trimming and maintenance services. The tree trimming and maintenance budget lines in Street Trees and Hudson Public Power provide for tree maintenance including pruning limbs, removing trees, grinding stumps, and applying herbicide treatments where needed on City right-of-way, public greens and properties and along the City's electric distribution systems overhead conductors.
This contract was publicly bid per the Hudson City Charter. Public Works received two (2) submitted bids. The attached bid tabulation shows the contractors and their submitted pricing. The pricing received by The Davey Tree Expert Company represents a 6.71% cost decrease from the last contract. Hudson Public Power budgets $450,000 annually for line clearance tree trimming and removals. Street Trees and Public Properties budgets $160,000 annually for tree trimming and removals. The contract would begin on January 1, 2020 and run thru December 31, 2021, with an option to renew the contract for 2 additional years dependent upon pricing and quality of service.
