Purpose & Explanation
Bids were received on Friday, February 14, 2014 for the 2014 Asphalt Resurfacing and Reconstruction Program. Below is the Engineer's Estimate along with the respective bids.
Engineer's Estimate: $2,301,951.25
Perrin Asphalt Company $2,067,911.25
Ronyak Paving, Inc. $2,249,386.94
The Shelly Company $2,314,327.90
Chagrin Valley Paving $2,417,785.30
Northstar Asphalt $2,418,189.99
The City Administration is requesting City Council approval to authorize the City Manager to award and enter into a contract with Perrin Asphalt Company for the 2014 Asphalt Resurfacing and Reconstruction Program. The Engineering Staff is requesting a 10% contingency for any unforeseen issues that may arise during construction. Total amount would be $2,136,348.45. Currently budgeted in the 202, 401 & 430 funds. Total for Resurfacing and Reconstruction = $2,136,348.45.
Due to the contract coming in below the budgeted amount we would like to add several alternate reconstruct streets to the program. The total amount of alternates that we would add would not exceed $267,110.07. Total Alternates = $267,110.07

In addition to the above work, the contract will include the resurfacing of 3 of the access roads at St. Mary's-Markille Cemetery (203 fund) in the amount of $22,068.64 and two walking trails at Veterans Way Park (205 fund) in the amount of $3,473.80.
