Resolution No. 23-97 - Permission to Bid and Award Willow Lake Drainage Improvement Project, Phase 1; 9/5/2023
Purpose & Explanation
In late 2022, the City completed the Willow Lake Hydraulic Study, which evaluated flooding issues affecting properties east of Eastham Way and behind the cul-de-sacs on Willow Lake Drive and Chatham Way.
The study recommended a two-phase approach. Phase 1, a short-term solution involving cleaning and grading the existing ditch, was completed in 2024. Phase 2 is a long-term improvement that will redirect the 36-inch culvert on Eastham Way south along Eastham Way to Mayflower Lane, then west along Mayflower Lane to a City-owned parcel leading into Colony Park. The new storm sewer system would extend to the rear of the City parcel within Colony Park and discharge into an existing stormwater management pond. The project will also include expansion of the existing dry stormwater management ponds to handle the increased flow and reduce downstream flooding within the watershed.
The estimated cost for Phase 2 of the Willow Lake Drainage Improvement Project, including a 10% contingency, is approximately $950,000.
