Body
Legislative History
Resolution 18-188 approved on December 18, 2018 authorized staff to seek competitive pricing on goods and services including tree planting services.
Purpose & Explanation
The Public Works Department budgets for tree planting contract work via the Street Trees & Greens budget areas. The total number of trees planted under the contract is based on the funds allocated as part of the annual budget. This amount has been $10,000 in 2018 and 2019. Staff is anticipating this amount to increase in 2020 to $34,000 due to back-logged replacement tree plantings. The $34,000 allocation will complete all current tree replacement planting orders within the right-of-way.
This contract was bid publicly per Hudson City Charter. The Public Works Department received two (2) competitive bid submittals. This contract is a two (2) year contract with a two (2) year renewal option should performance be satisfactory, and pricing remains reasonable. The attached bid tabulation shows the current contract and the two (2) bidders for the new contract. The new contract amount represents a 17.97% cost increase per tree from the current contract. This contract will begin January 1, 2020, and run thru December 31, 2021, with an option to renew the contract for 2 additional years dependent upon pricing and quality of service.
