Legislative History
The City enters into an Agreement with the Summit County Public Defender's Commission annually for the defense of indigent defendants.  Typically the City incurs minimal costs for the defense of indigents but is obligated to provide services if needed, pursuant to Chapter 120 of the Ohio Revised Code and Administrative Code 120-1-09.  The billable rate for 2013 was $160 per case, and in 2013 the City paid $320.
Purpose & Explanation
The Summit County Legal Defenders Office has requested approval of legislation authorizing contract services for the defense of indigents for cases opened during the period from January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2014, billable at a rate of $160 per case.
