Purpose & Explanation

City Staff has observed parking lots with public parks being used as all day commercial parking with vehicle operators leaving the vehicles unattended for extended periods of time.  The current ordinances related to use of park land provide regulation related to vehicle operation; however, do not properly address the issue of leaving a vehicle unattended.  The proposed regulation would help insure the parking lots would be available to those desiring to enjoy the city parks and not as a commuter or business parking lot.
