Title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS AND TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR THE 2025 VELOCITY FIBER PILOT PROJECT WITH THE LOWEST AND BEST BIDDER.

Brief Description:  This project involves installing approximately 18,000 total feet of overhead and underground fiber conduit, pull boxes and fiber optic cable in two neighborhoods that are part of Phase 1 of the City’s Fiber to the Home (FTTH) project.

Purpose & Explanation

The scope of this project involves the installation of 6161 feet of underground fiber conduit, fiber optic cable and pull boxes in the Oak Point Commons Subdivision which includes Westpoint Drive and Ridgewood Boulevard.  The project also includes 7000 feet of overhead fiber optic cable and 3500 of underground cable in the Woods of Westbrook area.

The estimated cost of the project is $295,000 which includes a 10% contingency.  The project is being designed in house and is scheduled for construction in the summer of 2025.  Staff will return to Council should the project costs exceed the project budget.

Suggested Action

Staff recommends that Council approves this authorization for the City Manager to advertise, receive bids and award to the lowest and best bidder for the 2025 Fiber to the Home Pilot Project.
