Legislative History
Resolution 13-157 advertise for competitive bids including 240 Ravenna St. Demolition project.
Purpose & Explanation
The City purchased the 240 Ravenna Street property in December 1998. The City now wishes to demolish the existing vacant house and garage, and cap the existing water well. The contractor will remove any asbestos-containing materials according to legal requirements and demolish the structures. The structure sites will be graded and seeded for turf establishment.
The Public Works Department received two (2) qualifying bids for this project. Bid documents have been examined and reviewed by the PW staff and Environmental Design Group engineers for completeness and qualifying requirements. A bid tabulation summary has been attached for review.
The Public Works Department has received confirmation that the City has been awarded a project grant from the Summit County Land Bank in the amount of $50,000 to be used for this project. The 2014 budget for the project was $50,000. With the lowest and best bid submitted at $49,675.00 the project costs will be recovered by the grant funds plus a contingency of 10% if required. The grant funds will be dispersed as a reimbursement upon final project payment and close out.
Timing Considerations
Upon City Council approval, the Public Works Staff will immediately execute a purchase order for demolition and hazardous material abatement services for 240 Ravenna Street structures.
