Body

Legislative History

Res. No. 25-147, passed 10/21/25.

Purpose & Explanation

This past summer, the Hudson Library & Historical Society passed a resolution asking the City of Hudson to place a levy on the upcoming May 5, 2026 ballot.  The Library specifically requested a renewal of the 2.9 mill levy along with a 0.6 mill increase for a total levy of 3.5-mill.

Pursuant to Ohio law, Council sent the required request to the Summit County Fiscal Office seeking a certification of the estimated revenue that would be generated by the levy.  The Fiscal Office has returned the certification, and now Council must pass a second resolution placing the question before the electorate.

Fiscal Impact

No direct fiscal impact on the City. The City acts as a conduit for the levy proceeds.

Does this legislation require use of an emergency clause?

X                       Yes, in order to meet submission deadlines for the Board of Elections (which is February 4, 2026, at 4:00 pm).

                       No

Recommendation

Suggested Action

Staff recommends that the question of the 2.9 mill renewal and 0.6 mill increase be sent to the Summit County Board of Elections so it can be placed before the voters on May 5, 2026.
