Executive Summary:  The City of Hudson Public Works Department uses a licensed animal control contractor to pick up and dispose of dead animals within city right of ways and on public properties.

Legislative History

Resolution No. 14-82 which authorized the City Manager to enter into a contract with Greg Miller Animal Control of Oakwood Village. 

Resolution No. 15-196 which authorized items for competitive bidding within Public Works. 

Purpose & Explanation

The Public Works Department contracts for animal roadside collection and disposal services.  Greg Miller Animal Control of Oakwood Village is the city’s current contractor and has performed the contract work successfully since 2010.  Their two-year contract was approved in 2014 and allows for a two-year extension.    

The attached bid tab shows the submitted pricing submitted by Greg Miller Animal Control for the two-year extension.  The submitted pricing represents a 2% increase over current prices. 

Timing Considerations

The two-year extension would begin on September 1, 2016 and run through August 31 2018.

Suggested Action

Staff recommends that City Council authorize the City Manager to enter into a contract for animal collection and disposal services with Greg Miller Animal Control, 7368 Oakhill Road, Oakwood Village, Ohio 44146 at the submitted unit pricing not to exceed the annual budget amount of $26,500.00.
